Picture this: You and up to five of your buddies, out on the open water, with nothing but blue skies above and the promise of some serious shark action below. That's what you're in for with our private charters. We'll cruise out to the hot spots where blacktips like to hang, and then it's game on. Our captains know these waters like the back of their hand, so you're in for a real treat. We're not about fancy meals on this trip – it's all about the fishing. Bring some snacks if you want, but trust me, once you feel that first tug on the line, food will be the last thing on your mind.
Shark fishing isn't your average day on the lake, folks. We're talking heavy-duty gear and some serious muscle. We'll be using sturdy rods and reels spooled with thick line – this ain't no time for finesse fishing. The bait of choice? Usually some nice, oily fish that'll get those sharks' attention. We might do some chumming to bring them in close, and then it's all about the wait. When that rod bends over, you better hold on tight! We'll show you how to fight these powerful fish without wearing yourself out, and how to safely handle them for a quick photo before release. It's all catch-and-release out here – we're after the thrill, not the grill.
"Captain Clay created an unforgettable experience for us. He took my work crew out on a chilly January day and still managed to find some fish. While the bite was tough, we had an amazing time. What truly sets Captain Clay apart from other guides I've been with is his exceptional customer service and personable nature. I highly recommend his guide service to anyone. Additionally, his boat-handling skills were impressive. As a fellow boat owner, I noticed how smoothly he navigated through rough waters. My boss, who often experiences back pain offshore, was comfortable thanks to Captain Clay's skillful maneuvers. Although the waves were over 3 feet, the ride was much smoother than expected. If you're looking for a great time, I highly recommend giving Captain Clay a try—you won't regret it!" - Hagan
Alright, let's talk about our star of the show – the blacktip shark. These guys are the perfect mix of challenge and excitement for anglers of all levels. They usually run about 4 to 6 feet long, but don't let their size fool you – they pack a serious punch. Blacktips are known for their acrobatic jumps and fast runs, so when you hook one, you're in for a real fight. They love warm, shallow waters, which makes the Gulf off Panama City Beach prime territory. Spring and summer are your best bet for landing one of these bad boys, but we see them year-round. What makes them so awesome to catch? Well, aside from their fighting spirit, they're just plain cool to look at. Those black-tipped fins are like nature's racing stripes. Plus, they're abundant enough that you've got a good shot at landing one, but not so common that it feels too easy. It's the perfect balance for an offshore adventure.

Blacktips are one of our most exciting catches here in Panama City Beach. These sharks typically run 4-5 feet long but can reach up to 9 feet. They're known for their energetic fights and impressive aerial displays – they can leap up to 21 feet per second out of the water! You'll find blacktips cruising around artificial reefs and in coastal waters up to about 100 feet deep. They're most active in the warmer months when they come in closer to shore. Anglers love targeting blacktips for their strong runs and acrobatics. To improve your chances, we'll use oily fish like mackerel or sardines as bait. A local trick is to really chum the water well – these sharks have a great sense of smell and will zero in on the scent. Just be ready when they hit – blacktips are lightning-fast and will give you a run for your money on light tackle.
